Quotes from the Captains

"This game and its connection to the community is truly something special. Every year stakes get higher, the hits go farther and, most importantly, the awareness we raise for women battling breast cancer gets broader. It is an honor to take the field every year with an amazing group of women -- even if one half of them are sad when the press takes home the trophy." – Mikayla Bouchard

“The Congressional Women’s Softball Game is the best night of the year in Washington. It brings together Democrats, Republicans, Congress, and the press, for two amazing causes: helping an important charity for women breast cancer survivors, and beating the Bad News Babes! I’m honored to co-captain Team Congress once again, and I can’t wait to see everyone there!” – Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

"As the granddaughter of two breast cancer survivors, I'm proud to be part of this amazing community of women who put aside political and professional differences to rally for something bigger than any one of us. Plus, this game is just plain fun -- what better way is there to support this great cause?" – Emmarie Huetteman

“I am honored to participate in the Congressional Women’s Softball Game again this year as we rally together in support of a tremendously worthy cause. I am both proud and deeply saddened to play in honor of my dear friend’s daughter, Courtney, who courageously battled cancer for a little over a year but recently passed away. During this time of profound heartbreak, I am thankful to have this opportunity to honor Courtney’s life.” – Congresswoman Martha Roby

“We congressional women are in a league of our own, and I’m proud to continue keeping this tradition of bipartisanship, camaraderie, and friendly competition alive for a great cause. See you on the field!” – Senator Shelley Moore Capito

"I am thrilled to join my bipartisan colleagues to support striking out cancer through another season of Congressional Women's Softball. As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand the importance of education and outreach that informs women 45 and younger about their breast cancer risks, and empowers them to speak up for their health and fight this deadly disease. Our annual softball game is a fun and competitive opportunity to raise funds for the Young Survival Coalition, an incredible organization that supports young adults affected by breast cancer. Having a community of support was so critical to me as I fought cancer, and the Young Survival Coalition's work, and our annual softball game, are both models of building and embracing community in our lives, whether we are facing personal struggles or pursuing a common goal. It’s an important and special opportunity to build camaraderie as women in support of one another that we look forward to each year.” – Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz

The Congressional Women’s Softball Game will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Watkins Recreation Center, 420 12th Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003. Tickets are $10, and they can be purchased online, or at the gate on game day. For more information, visit: https://www.congwomensoftball.org.
